Karthik Ramachandran, Ph.D., is Co-Founder and Vice President of Strategic Growth of Likarda, LLC, a contract research organization (CRO) and leader in 3D cell-based testing, manufacturing, and regenerative medicine.  Dr. Ramachandran, a Colorado native, moved to Kansas after completing his undergraduate in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from the University of Colorado.  In 2007, he pursued his passion for engineering, medicine and business at the University of Kansas at Lawrence.  In 2012, he graduated with a doctorate in Bioengineering and remained in Kansas City to found Likarda together with his graduate mentor, Dr. Lisa Stehno-Bittel.  His graduate research focused on tissue engineering—more specifically—developing a technology for efficiently engineering 3D cell clusters (or miniature organs) for applications in drug discovery and regenerative medicine; forming the foundation for Likarda’s products and services.  In addition to his research experience, Dr. Ramachandran gained valuable business and entrepreneurial experience as an Institute for Advancing Medical Innovation Fellow.

Since founding Likarda, he has received several awards including being a “Top Young Entrepreneur to Watch” by Under30CEO and named to the prestigious “20 in their Twenties” list in Ingram’s Magazine and has been featured in articles published by the Daily Beast, KCPT, PBS Newshour, and KC Business Journal.  Dr. Ramachandran maintains active involvement in the biotech and entrepreneurial communities in the KC region — where hopes to excite younger researchers/scientists into translating their technologies for market and growing businesses in the Midwest.  In his free time, Dr. Ramachandran enjoys Ultimate, golf, and spending time with friends.
